Washed Ashore's Blue Marlin Created from Marine Debris

The organization, Washed Ashore, creates sculptures like this Blue Marlin found in front of the Rainforest Cafe on Galveston Island. All of their art is made from marine debris collected by volunteers. Look closely to see if you can spot a toothbrush, sunglasses, beer cans and bottles and even a toilet seat!

Do you live close enough to drive to a cruise embarkation port?

Our Austin area home is just under 4 hours from the Port of Galveston. Although the cruise itineraries are fairly limited, it is nice to have the option of going on a cruise without the added expense of airfare.

Last month we met up with some friends on Galveston Island the evening before we all cruised aboard the Allure of the Seas. After a long walk along Seawall Blvd., we enjoyed a dinner at Rainforest Cafe. That's where we found this awesome blue marlin sculpture made from marine debris.
