Another favorite stopping point for those driving around the island of Lanzarote is the Green Lagoon. Located near the black sand beach of El Golfo, it's the green color of the water (and probably also the fact that there is no entrance fee) that draws visitors to Charco Verde (or Charco de los Clicos). The "green" color is caused by the algae and seaweed at the bottom of the lagoon. "Clicos" are shellfish that are also found in the lagoon, hence the additional name of Charco de los Clicos.

We usually like to see new places when we make an encore visit to a destination, but we definitely wanted to return to the Green Lagoon in Lanzarote. It was fun to share a place that we previously enjoyed during our recent day trip with our cruise ship travel companions!
