Soaking in the Natural Beauty of "The Coromandel"

If you want to visit a place frequently talked about by the locals, the Coromandel Peninsula should be on your radar. Known for its amazing beaches, lush greenery and natural beauty, "The Coromandel" is only an hour from Auckland by air (or less than four hours by car). It's said that a visit to the peninsula is "good for your soul" - hike or walk, plan a beach day, cruise on the water, shop for unique crafts or just plain relax.

When you visit a new country, do you ever wonder where the locals vacation?

One popular place for the Kiwis to vacation is the Coromandel Peninsula on New Zealand's North Island. We had hoped to do the Cathedral Cove coastal walk however, due to recent severe weather, the walk has been closed since early February. We tried to do the next best thing, a boat ride, but all of the people who planned on walking were competing for a limited number of seats.

We still had an awesome day visiting with both locals and tourists and soaking in the natural beauty!
