Greetings from Custer, South Dakota!

It's fun to get to know the mining and tourist town of Custer - the oldest town in the Black Hills. With its central location, the city of Custer is also the perfect starting point for exploring the Southern Black Hills. It's easy to plan daily itineraries which can include one or more of the best sites in the area.

How much thought do you put into deciding upon a "home base" for your vacations?

We don't always put as much time into thoughtfully choosing where to stay as we did during our summer visit to South Dakota. When all was said and done, we stayed in three different RV parks in the Black Hills. Our first five nights were spent in the city of Custer - perfect for exploring the "Southern Hills".

What recommendations would you make to anyone searching for lodging in the Black Hills?
