Float in the Dead Sea without even Trying!

Located in the Middle East, the countries of Israel and Jordan (plus the Palestinian territory known as the West Bank) border the Dead Sea. The Dead Sea gets its name because of its salinity - it is one of the world's saltiest bodies of water. At between nine and ten times more salty than ocean water, living things are unable to survive in the water. It is said that bacteria is the only thing able to actually grow in the water.

Have you been to any places where the elevation is below sea level?

We've haven't yet made it to Death Valley, the lowest place in the United States, but now we can say that we have visited the lowest place on earth. Although our time in the Dead Sea was very short, we got to experience the sensation of floating in water with no effort! (It is said that it is impossible to drown in the water - your body just floats.)
