Honoring an Important Birthday and Flag Day

The first flag was adopted 244 years ago - on June 14, 1777. With only 13 stars and stripes, it looked quite different from today's flag and this painting that we saw in Custer, South Dakota!

Social Media Description

Are there any obscure holidays that you recognize in your household?

In the United States, June 14th is Flag Day. It was in 1777 that the first flag of the country was adopted. It had both stars and stripes, but with only 13 states, it looked quite different from today's flag.

Fun fact: June 14th is also the birthday of the U.S. Army. The Army was actually established in 1775 - two years before the first flag was revealed!

Other than the standard federal holidays, what other holidays do you celebrate?
