Norway | Bergen | Troldhaugen | Gamlehaugen | Royal Residence | King of Norway | Walking Tour
Designed in 1899, Gamlehaugen is the official Royal Residence available to the King of Norway
whenever he so chooses. We found the home near Troldhaugen during our self-guided walking
tour of the city of Bergen. Although the home was not open for tours, it is surrounded by a
beautifully landscaped park which is open to the public. We enjoyed walking the grounds to see
the well manicured gardens and nearby water.

Bergen is an awesome Norwegian cruise port for the DIY traveler. We learned all that we could
before we went, and had no trouble at all getting around on our own. Trams will even take you
to the surrounding area where off the beaten path gems like Gamlehaugen can be discovered.
