Back in 2019, we were on a last minute search for a campsite as the one we were planning to stay at had closed due to flooding. We ended up in Gun Barrel City, Texas! When researching nearby attractions, we came across the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center.
Since neither of us have been successful with fishing, we don't typically include time for fishing or related activities in our travel plans. Surprisingly to us, the center was actually very impressive. It was interesting to see some of the fish found in Texas waters (like this huge alligator gar), and even spend a little time fishing in the stocked ponds.
