Enjoying the View at the Lighthouse on Guernsey Island

The islands of Guernsey and Jersey form what is known as the Channel Islands. Located in the English Channel just off the coast of Normandy, Guernsey is a popular stop for cruise ships sailing around the British Isles. The cute little island is perfect for a day of do it yourself exploring and totally picturesque views. The Saint Peter Port Harbour Lighthouse offers an important navigation point of reference for boats entering the harbor on Guernsey Island.

Do you prefer land travel or traveling by cruise ship?

It's hard for us to decide which we like better. With short port visits, we love going on cruises to get an introduction to a city or country. Cruise ports can help us to decide where we want to spend more time later also. But, there are, of course, so many inland areas that you can't really visit by cruise ship. Adding time before or after a cruise helps us to see more inland areas as well!

We spent part of a day at St. Peter Port on the island of Guernsey. It's a place that we fell in love with, and had it not been for traveling by cruise ship, we might never have made it there! We saw some of the famous cows, and loved the lighthouse and harbor as well.
