Relaxing on the Shores of Tishomingo's Haynes Lake

Chief Tishomingo, the leader of the Chickasaw nation, is the namesake of Tishomingo State Park which sits in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Located in northern Mississippi very near the Mississippi-Alabama state line, the park is a must visit for anyone who prefers campgrounds over RV Parks. In addition to 8 primitive campsites (no hook-ups), the park has 61 sites with both electric and water plus six rustic cabins and one more modern cottage.

What types of places do you like to camp?

It's coming up on 2 years ago since we were relaxing in our hammocks at Tishomingo State Park. It was our first experience at one of Mississippi's State Parks, and we loved the lake, trees, activities and spacious campsites. Our site was surrounded by numerous tall trees which provided great shade. The overhead canopy and the large open area made for a perfect space to sneak in a quick outdoor workout with an awesome view of the geese or to relax on our hammocks after hiking the trails.
