No trip to Louisiana is complete without visiting a swamp! With propellers on top, an Airboat Adventure is the only way to actually travel anywhere in a swamp. Although very loud, the speed and flexibility of an airboat allows the boat captain to more easily spot gators and other animals.

Have you been on a swamp tour?

Luckily, we've been on several - in both Florida and Louisiana. Our favorite was in 2019 - a small airboat tour by Airboat Adventures. From New Orleans, the drive to Lafitte, LA was only about 30 minutes and the adventure was definitely worth it. The captain was able to quickly take the small boat down some of the narrower canals in the swamp for views of alligators, raccoons and an abundance of birds and other wildlife.
