Slovenia's Bled Castle dates back to the 11th century. The castle was rebuilt after being badly
damaged by an earthquake in the early 1500s. Following a ten year restoration project in the
1950s, the castle looks much like it did in the latter 1500s. Today's castle also offers a
restaurant and winery, but its the view of Lake Bled with its lone island in the middle that so
many people want to see!

We joined a small group for a private tour when our cruise made a stop in Koper, Slovenia. Our
awesome tour began with a visit to a cave before heading to Bled Castle. We had heard great
things about the castle, but didn't know what to expect. What we saw was a very interesting
castle with an amazing view of the valley and Lake Bled.
When traveling, are you more interested in touring sites like castles ... or do you prefer to find
scenic viewpoints?
