Texas | LaPorte | Houston Ship Channel | USS Texas | Houston Museums | US Battleships | San Jacinto Battleground
Although closed now in preparation for repairs, we are looking forward to a future visit to the Battleship Texas. All of the historic guns were recently removed from Battleship Texas as it is being readied for relocation to a shipyard. That's where the ship's hull will be replaced along with additional maintenance and improvements. It is estimated that visitors won't be able to visit the ship again until early 2022, wherever she is located at that time!

Do you have any Memorial Day traditions?
We always hang a flag at our home in honor of those who died while serving in the U. S. Military, and this year is no exception. That just doesn't seem like enough when we think about all that we have due to the service of others. We had the chance to visit the Battleship Texas last year shortly before it closed for several years for maintenance and repairs, so posting this photo of the flag flying on the day of our visit seemed appropriate today.

I just want to live in a world of mountains, coffee, campfires, cabins, and golden trees, and run around with a camera and notebook, learning the inner workings of everything real. - Victoria Erickson
