When your cruise ship docks nearby on the one day each week when the castle (aka schloss) is closed, you have to settle for soaking in the atmosphere. Located in the city of Schwerin, the grounds of Schwerin Castle are absolutely beautiful. I can only imagine what the inside of the castle would look like. The castle stands on a small island on Lake Schwerin and was formerly the home to dukes and grand dukes for hundreds of years.
