Portugal | Lisbon | Day Trip | Alentejo Province | Evora | Almendres Cromlech | Megaliths | Monoliths | Stonehenge
Just about 12 miles from the Portuguese city of Evora in the Alentejo Province stands a relic that dates back to the neolithic period. What is known today as the Almendres Cromlech (or the megaliths) consists of nearly 100 huge stones that are formed into two circles. It is said that some of the granite boulders even have engravings on their faces.

We've been fortunate enough to visit Stonehenge and a few replicas, but this site in Portugal was completely different!
