California | San Bernadino | Original McDonald's | Route 66 | McDonald's Museum | Collectibles | Memorabilia
What originally opened as a San Bernadino McDonald's barbecue restaurant in 1940 by two brothers was converted into a hamburger selling fast food restaurant eight years later. (In 1955, Ray Kroc helped the McDonald brothers to franchise the restaurant and opened an Illinois location.) The site of the original restaurant in California is now a museum that is the home of an assortment of collectibles, many donated from around the country (and world).

We planned a few days in the San Bernadino area to see family nearby ... but also searched for things to see and do. A visit to the original McDonald's Restaurant (now a museum) was a fun start to our stay!
In a cool solitude of trees, where leaves and birds a music spin, mind that was weary is at ease, new rhythms in the soul begin. - William Kean Seymour
