Portugal | Lisbon | Day Trip | Sintra | Sintra Hills | Peña Palace | Palacio de Pena | National Palace of Pena | UNESCO | National Monument
Looking for a day trip to see other areas of Portugal near Lisbon? The National Palace of Pena in Sintra should definitely be on your list! Recognized as a national monument since 1910, Pena Palace was classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 1995. What was originally to be a summer residence and then transformed into a palace, it was Ferdinand II (known as the "King-Artist"), husband of Queen Maria II, that purchased the land and created the fairy tale like setting.
