Snorkeling in the Clear Water Surrounding Dry Tortugas

One of the best snorkeling spots in the United States is located in the clear waters surrounding Dry Tortugas National Park. The park is only about 70 miles away from Key West, Florida, but is still quite remote (access is limited to those arriving by boat or plane). Garden Key's beautiful white sand beach leads directly to the shallow crystal clear waters filled with coral and tropical fish of every color imaginable. (Those who ride aboard Yankee Freedom to reach the national park even have access to free masks, snorkels and fins.)

What travel goals do you have?

We have sooo many that it will be downright impossible to hit them all - especially since we seem to add more to our list than we check off! We love visiting the national parks in our home country, and we have increased our focus on trying to visit them all over the last two years.

Dry Tortugas is one of the more remote national parks. In addition to being the home to Fort Jefferson, snorkeling around the main island (Garden Key) is among the best in the US. The waters are a protected marine sanctuary - very clear with both beautiful coral and tropical fish.
