Cooling off on a Hot Summer Day in Austin

The Upper Falls at McKinney Falls State Park is popular for swimming, floating ... and even jumping or diving from the surrounding cliffs! The water is deeper than that surrounding the Lower Falls - but remember, it all depends on how much rain has fallen during the season. During 2022, the "waterfall" was more of a "water trickle". Even though the flow is low, you still may see turtles and small fish during your visit.

We love lots of water activities - boating, swimming, snorkeling, sailing, floating and more. Choosing a favorite is hard and it really depends on where we are and what the weather is like. Since it's been so hot, we've really been enjoying just floating in the water.
