West Virginia's Allegheny Mountains are home to Monongahela National Forest. Within the forest is a 43 mile long
scenic byway connecting the cities of Richwood and Marlinton. In addition to possible wildlife sightings, visitors will find
hiking trails, four scenic overlooks with panoramic views of the mountains and more. There's plenty of birds to be
seen, and the lucky few may even spot a beaver, bobcat, turkey or black bear!

Do you enjoy seeing wildlife?
While driving through the Monongahela National Forest, we approached another car on the Highland Scenic Highway.
We slowed down as we couldn't tell if the car was stopped or trying to back-up to park beside the highway. We paused
for a few seconds, and soon realized that the passengers had spotted a black bear just strolling along the roadside!
