Reading the News at Newspaper Rock, Utah

On our way to the southern entrance of Canyonlands National Park, we made a stop at the roadside park that is home to the Newspaper Rock State Historical Monument. The rock is filled with petroglyphs from ancient peoples including the Anasazi and Navajo, some dating back over 2000 years. With one of the largest known collections of glyphs, this monument is truly incredible.

Do you enjoy visiting museums?

To be honest, neither of us are big museum lovers. It's unfortunate, because many times when we do go into a museum, we enjoy our time. But, we often skip over museums in listings of the best things to do in a place that we will be visiting. We did, however, make a stop to check out the artwork (aka petroglyphs) at Newspaper Rock in Utah. It's really quite similar to a small museum, except it is outdoors! The drawings are all very interesting - we saw animals, hunting scenes and so many other curious pictures.
