Built for Captain Frederick Pabst and his wife Maria, the Pabst Mansion was originally under construction
for two years beginning in mid-1890. Following the death of both Captain & Mrs. Pabst less than 20 years
later, their descendants sold the mansion to the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Milwaukee. After being
saved from demolition in the mid-1970s, the mansion, with its many original pieces of art and furniture in
Milwaukee, WI, is open for tours today.

Do you enjoy touring mansions?
It seems like the place that was at the top of nearly every "must see" list for Milwaukee, WI was the
Pabst Mansion. Since we had a day to explore the city with my aunt and her friend, we decided to start
there. When we arrived, the next tour was self-guided (they rotate between guided and self-guided
tours), so we went the DIY route. We lucked out at the end of our visit when one of the guides took us
back to Captain Pabst's office to show us some cool features not usually included in either tour!
