Creekside Camping at Palisades State Park

We chose Palisades State Park for a two night camping stay. The park is just west of the Minnesota-South Dakota border in the city of Garretson, South Dakota. We lucked out as our campsite with it's neighboring creek ended up being one of our top 5 favorites in the campground.

Have you visited southeastern South Dakota?

Our journey to the Black Hills was finally under way. As it was too far to drive all of the way in one day, we stopped in Garretson, just west of the Minnesota-South Dakota border. This was our first RV journey with family joining us, so we had a goal of not wasting any sightseeing time! Our research led us to Sioux Falls, Split Rock Park and Devil's Gulch in the immediate area.

After leaving Garretson, we also made stops at the Corn Palace and Chamberlain Rest Area. After exploring all five sights, we truly believe that they are each gems worthy of a visit.
