Tour an actual copper mine that was in operation for 40 years beginning in 1847. After watching a short safety
video, getting into the Delaware Mine requires walking down stairs. Once inside, explore the mine at your own pace
before climbing the stairs to return to your starting point. Short ground-level hiking trails allow visitors to see the
remains of buildings and equipment from the mining days. Don't miss meeting the owner's unique animals in the
office / gift shop!

Have you ever had a unique pet?
Since we toured a coal mine earlier in our trip, we decided to tour a copper mine in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. We
enjoyed our self-guided tour and also loved meeting Snickers, the pet skunk and "family member" of the mine's
owners. Although we didn't get to meet him, Snickers also has a skunk-brother named Oreo. (The owners have had
other pet-skunks for nearly 20 years. They have all shared the same names and have been "spoke-skunks" through
the years!)
What's the most unique pet that you've owned (or that a friend or family member has owned)?
