The Rio Grande Gorge Bridge in Taos, New Mexico is recognized as the 5th highest bridge in the United States. It won an award for "Most Beautiful Steel Bridge" shortly after its 1965 completion by the American Institute of Steel Construction. The views of the river, gorge and surrounding tall cliff walls from the bridge are amazing (and for some, a little scary due to the height)!

During our drive between Hooper (Colorado) and Taos (New Mexico), I did a search for interesting things to see along the way. I came upon the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge, so we decided to make a quick stop.
Fun fact: The bridge was nicknamed "Bridge to Nowhere" in the early 1960s when funding ran out for completion of the bridge! (It was finished several years later.)
