Walking along the Route 66 in Holbrook, AZ

The route along historic Route 66 through eight states from Chicago to Los Angeles was known as the mother road. While it's not the same journey as it was almost 100 years ago, there's still sights to see today. With two national parks just minutes away (Petrified Forest and Painted Desert) plus remnants from years gone by, the town of Holbrook, Arizona is a great point for an overnight stop. (You can even stay at the Wigwam Motel!)

Social Media Description

Have you ever had car troubles change your plans when you are on a road trip?

We had a 3+ week fall RV trip planned during which we would explore three national parks and then some. Two days into our journey, we began having troubles with our tow vehicle. To make a long story short, our 1 night in Holbrook, AZ turned into 25 nights. We took advantage of our time by catching up on some stuff we wanted to do, plus a little exploring of the area like this walk along the historic Route 66.

What changes have you had to make to road trip itineraries?
