California | Sequoia National Park | Sequoia National Forest | Sherman Tree Trail | General Sherman Tree | Sequoias | Sequoia Tree
The one-half mile hike leading to the General Sherman Tree is on a paved trail with a limited number of stair steps along the way. The General Sherman is not the tallest tree nor the tree with the largest circumference, but it has more volume of wood in its trunk than any other tree (not in the park, nor the state, nor the US - but in the world)! The tree is estimated to weigh in at over 2.5 million pounds.

Social Media Description
The hike to the General Sherman tree was an easy one - it was downhill and on a paved path. Along the way were a number of interesting exhibits (including a display showing the base of the tree trunk using stones embedded in the path - it provides hikers with a way to gain perspective on the size and shape of the base of the tree).
