What have you heard about the Wisconsin Dells?
We knew that the Dells is often referred to as the water park capital of the world. But, we had also heard
that it is a vacation destination for people of all ages. Since we are traveling through some of the north
central states, this was the perfect time for us to check out what the Dells has to offer.
We chose an Upper Dells Boat Tour as our first excursion. The boat navigated through the rather narrow
river past several unique sandstone formations. We also made stops at Witches Gulch (pictured) and
Stand Rock where we exited the boat for some sightseeing on the land. Witches Gulch is a slot-like
canyon formed through the years by the effects of wind and water. The narrow canyon is filled with ferns
and has a slightly eerie feel - I can only imagine what a night time walk through the canyon would feel
like!
