Iowa 80 Truckstop: Not Just for Truckers!

With over 900 parking spaces for trucks, the Iowa 80 Truckstop is said the be the largest Truckstop in the world. Located in eastern Iowa and open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days each year, it's a place that both truckers and non-truckers will enjoy. Filled with souvenirs and plenty of necessities and services for travelers of all kinds, the stop is also home to a free museum filled with over 100 vintage trucks.

Do you like making stops at unique roadside attractions?

For long-haul truck drivers, the Iowa 80 Truckstop is more of a necessity than an attraction. But, for anyone driving along interstate 80 in eastern Iowa, it's a unique way to spend part of a day!

As we were driving toward the Quad Cities, we saw billboards advertising the truckstop and knew that we wanted to visit. Just about any service that you can imagine that a long distance driver might need or want (fuel, chiropractor, dentist, barber, showers, pet wash, movie theater and so much more) is available.

There's a huge retail store offering plenty of trucking accessories plus a large collection of fun souvenirs as well. We also enjoyed seeing the collection of vintage trucks in the on-site trucking museum.

What was the last roadside attraction that you visited?

I married a woman who loves to camp, and I am what you would call indoorsy. My wife always brings up, 'Camping's a tradition in my family.' Hey, it was a tradition in everyone's family 'til we came up with the house. - Jim Gaffigan
