In September 2004, construction began in Dubai on what is today's tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa. The building's exterior was completed in 2009 and Burj Khalifa officially opened on January 4 , 2010. In addition to holding the record for being the tallest building, Burj Khalifa currently has the tallest (and fastest) elevator and the most floors in a building, among other records.

We had to "sleep fast" after our late night arrival to Dubai as we wanted to make the most of our five day stay. Our first stop was Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. After wandering around the Dubai Mall, our tickets took us to the observation decks (floors 124 and 125) for a bird's eye view of the city.
