While it's true that Sturgis is best known for the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, there's much more to the city than motorcycles and the rally. The city's Main Street is similar to other downtown streets with a variety of businesses, retail shops, restaurants, bars and even museums. As the days near the early August rally, the downtown crowd size and the number of pop-up shops both definitely increase!

Have you been to Sturgis during the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally?

We didn't actually make it for the rally (by choice), but we were in Sturgis just days before the 2020 80th rally anniversary. The "buzz" in the city was undeniable and even for those who are not bikers, there's a sense of excitement. In only one day, we found a couple of great junk food eateries plus a bar, shopped, explored a famous museum and stood in amazement at a field of flags.
