Located in California, Death Valley National Park is the largest national park in the lower 48 states. While Death Valley is known for being both hot and dry, don't let its name discourage you from visiting. In additional to beautiful desert landscapes, the national park is home to Badwater Basin, the country's lowest point (282 feet below sea level), as well as mountains, canyons, sand dunes, salt flats and more!

Death Valley National Park has been on our "wanna explore" list for quite some time. To be honest, I didn't know a lot about the national park - other than the extreme summertime temperatures. As we left the Furnace Creek Visitor Center during a late morning in early July, the temperature had already reached 116 degrees. Needless to say, we didn't do a lot of hiking, but we really enjoyed the beautiful desert landscapes.
Nature has been for me, for as long as I remember, a source of solace, inspiration, adventure, and delight; a home, a teacher, a companion. - Lorraine Anderson
