The town today is a National Historic Landmark District that many visit to explore the downtown or to enjoy outdoor recreation. Silverton is located at 9,318 feet above sea level in the San Juan Mountains, a part of the Rocky Mountains. The town is surrounded by peaks measuring 13,000 feet with beauty in all directions no matter the time of year!
