Interesting Views From Fort James on Antigua


    

Just a short drive from the port on the northwest coast of Antigua is Fort James Beach. Although much of the fort has fallen, the cannons that were positioned to protect the island are still standing today. It's worth a visit for the awesome view over the bay!

Have you visited Antigua?

We've been to the island a few times - always port days while on Caribbean cruises. One of our favorite places to visit is Fort James Beach. The beach is home to the cannons that protected the harbor 200 years ago. While enjoying the imposing view over the bay, it's fun to imagine what it would have been like to watch for pirate ships. In years gone bye, if a pirate ship came near the mouth of the harbor, they would just blast'em!
