Amazing View and History at Blackbeard's Castle

While exploring Charlotte Amalie, be on the lookout for the tower known as Blackbeard's Castle. Although currently closed due to damage caused by Hurricane Irma in 2017, you can still peek through the gate to see this National Historic Landmark and also a view of the harbor. Just a few blocks away, you'll find both the Three Queens Fountain and the famous 99 Steps.

What was the last place that you explored on foot?

Our recent guide with three itineraries for port days in St. Thomas includes a plan for a walking tour around the port city of Charlotte Amalie. Shopping, dining, history and views are all within a short distance of the Havensight Cruise Ship Dock. Start by enjoying a fantastic view from a high point, see some of the island's history including Blackbeard's Castle and wrap up your time in port by doing some retail shopping (or dining) near the ship.
