The words "El Badi" translate to "The Incomparable" which was the vision when the 360 room palace was commissioned in 1578 and built over the next 25 years. What was once an amazing display of wealth sits in ruins today after being stripped of all of the treasures that originally called the palace their home. Badi Palace is still worth a visit to see the architecture with its remaining mosaics, carvings and columns. Make sure to be on the lookout for the storks (and their nests) which now call the palace their home!

Although Badi Palace stands in ruins today, we enjoyed exploring all that still stands and imagining what it may have been like to live there hundreds of years ago!

Fun fact: El Badi Palace was home to Sultan Ahmad al-Mansur's harem which reportedly included more than 500 women.
