Michigan | St. Ignace | Castle Rock | Pontiac's Lookout | Mackinac Island | Lake Huron | Scenic Overlook | Stairs
What is known today as Castle Rock was referred to as Pontiac's Lookout by the Ojibwa Tribe. Located
near St. Ignace, Michigan, the top of the rock stands nearly 200 feet above sea level. On a clear day,
those willing to put in the effort to climb 171 steps are rewarded with a view that stretches up to 20 miles
in the distance - including Mackinac Island.

Would you climb stairs to reach a scenic overlook?
As we were driving near St. Ignace, Michigan, we passed by an interesting rock formation known as
Castle Rock. I did a quick internet search and learned that we could climb stairs to the top to see the
view for only $1.00 per person. Bargain!
How many stairs are you willing to climb for a great view on a clear day?
