Start Your Day Watching Wildlife on the Chobe River

Once you've cruised along the Chobe River in search of wildlife, you'll realize that one cruise is not enough. The good news for those staying multiple nights at Chobe Bakwena Lodge is that you might be able to choose a second cruise as one of your two daily activities. You are sure to see elephants no matter if you cruise in the morning or afrernoon, but that's not all. Chobe is home to browsers and grazers, so keep your eyes peeled!

After a week on safari in Tanzania, a boat cruise in search of wildlife on the Chobe River felt so unique. So much so that we chose to go out on the river two days in a row. We left the lodge for our second Chobe cruise just after 9:00 (much later than our daily departure times since our arrival in Africa)! Here's just a sample of the wildlife that we encountered during our morning journey: a male kudu, impalas, hippos, crocodiles, a male waterbuck, elephants and zebras.

Make sure to come back tomorrow to see the main reason that our safari guide Alec recommended that we go out on the boat again!
