Gliding Between Mangroves on the Kilim River

As the captain navigates between the mangrove trees along the Kilim River, passengers aboard have their eyes peeled as they are surrounded by nature. The trees with their roots above the water are quite interesting and the wildlife that is seen along the way make for an amazing journey. After food is thrown into the water, the red-backed eagles will be there in no time competing for their next meal. During the approximately two hour journey, stops will be also be made at a fish farm and a bat cave.

The highlight of our tour at the Port of Langkawi (Malaysia) had to be the boat ride through the mangroves on the Kilim River. Shortly after leaving the dock, we saw the red-backed eagles in person - diving into the river waters to catch a meal. It wasn't just the eagles that we saw as we cruised through the mangroves. We spotted monkeys, a snake, a variety of fish at the fish farm and bats.
