Listen to the Sounds of Falling Water at Owharoa Falls
Waterfall enthusiasts will love how easy it is to get to Owharoa Falls in the Waikato Region of New Zealand's North Island. There's a few roadside parking spots, and from your car to the base of the falls is a quick five minute walk which includes a few stair steps. It's nice to just relax and listen to the sounds of the falling water, or bring a picnic and enjoy a longer visit. There is another waterfall dropping into the same stream a short distance away (plus a third that's much more difficult to reach).

What's your favorite outdoor activity?
We love hiking - especially when the reward at the end of the hike is a waterfall. In the case of Owharoa Falls, it was a really short distance from where we parked our rental car to our first glimpse of the falls. We kept walking (can't even call it hiking) until we had a good angle for a photo before leaving to make our way toward the Coromandel Peninsula.
