Louisiana | Baton Rouge | Mississippi River | Southern University | Scott's Bluff | Red Stick | History | Granite Graves
It was atop Scott's Bluff where the famous "Red Stick" which gave Baton Rouge its name was originally found. While the original bloody spear made of cypress wood is no longer there, a Red Stick sculpture stands in its place. From the spot on the bluff, visitors also have a scenic view of the Mississippi River. Nearby stand three granite graves where the first president of Southern University is buried beside his wife and son.
