Entering Serengeti National Park ... Finally!

In addition to being home to "The Big Five", Africa's Serengeti National Park in northern Tanzania is probably best known for what many refer to as "The Great Migration". During the winter (June through September), huge numbers of antelopes, wildebeests and zebras cross the Mara River making it a popular time for tourists. (Some believe that the name "Serengeti" translates to "endless plains" in the Maasai language.)

What's the longest period of time you've ever spent planning a trip?

Back in July 2019, we began seriously planning an African safari (not just talking about it, but actually planning it). By the end of 2019, we had everything reserved - flights, lodging, safari guide and more. As you can probably guess, the pandemic put a halt to our plans.

Here we are, over four years later, and we finally made it to the Serengeti - the main inspiration for our journey. We spent two incredible days on game drives before reaching Africa's famous Serengeti. The big question is, "Will the Serengeti live up to our expectations?".
