Game Driving Inside Tanzania's Tarangire National Park

Named after the Tarangire River, Tanzania's Tarangire National Park is best known for its large elephant population (one of the country's biggest) as well as its Baobab trees. Between June and October, the dry season, the Tarangire River is one of few water sources that is not completely dry in this part of Tanzania. Because of the water, a variety of animals make their way to the park therefore making it an excellent addition to any safari itinerary.

Although it's not as highly recognized as the Serengeti, Tarangire National Park is a great choice for one or more days on safari in Tanzania. During our last afternoon in Tanzania, we spotted elands, zebras, buffalo, ostriches, warthogs, wildebeest, elephants, leopards, baboons, black fisted vervet monkeys and giraffes. Be sure to check out the cool Baobab tree - one of many inside the park.
