Austria | Danube River | Wachau Valley | Durnstein | Melk | Spitz | Weissenkirchen | River Cruise | Gate 1 Travel | Monarch Queen
From Durnstein to Melk (or vice versa), an afternoon of scenic sailing in Austria's Wachau Valley is unforgettable. Between Melk's Abbey and the castle ruins above Durnstein, you'll pass by villages including Spitz and Weissenkirchen and understand why the region has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage landscape. Soak in the views of the rolling terraced hillsides filled with grape vines and apricot orchards while you search for upcoming architectural wonders west of Vienna.

Social Media Description
We spent most of our afternoon on the upper deck of the Monarch Queen enjoying the scenery of Austria's Wachau Valley. The water, the riverside towns and villages, the reflections and the leaves changing to their fall coloring made for a very scenic sailing.
Cruising has two pleasures. One is to go out in wider waters from a sheltered place. The other is to go into a sheltered place from wider waters. - Howard Bloomfield
