Exploring the Papeete Public Market is Magical

When in French Polynesia, we couldn't miss the opportunity to visit and explore one of the most awesome city markets that we've seen. In Papeete, the main city on the island of Tahiti, besides grabbing a great bouquet of flowers, we explored the restaurant, clothing, grocery and souvenir sections. Officially called the Marché de Papeete, the French and Polynesian cultures are wonderfully mixed in this tropical paradise.

Do you enjoy visiting local markets on your travels?

We have found that it is fun to see what is offered in the various markets around the world. More than just exploring what is available, we have frequently purchased a snack, a meal, a souvenir or gift (and even things that we really needed) in a market. When we were ready to depart on our cruise around French Polynesia, we bought some beautiful fresh flowers. Our cabin smelled great and had great decor during our trip!
