South Dakota | Wall | Wall Drug | Billboards | Retail Stores | Where to Shop | Souvenirs | Dining | Fun for Kids
Traveling east or west along I-90 and other nearby roads in the Badlands region of South Dakota, there's no possible way to miss the hand painted billboards advertising Wall Drug Store. Similar signage dates back to the mid-1930s, often promoting free water, cheap coffee or the distance to the still family owned store. Arriving into the city of Wall, there's even more signs leading travelers the final distance to the store and the spacious parking area for the impossible to miss huge green building spanning Main Street!

Do you believe that roadside advertising works?
During our road trip along I-90 through South Dakota, we saw so many creative billboards advertising Wall Drug. I had heard about the store and the signs, but since our 2020 summer trip was my first time in the state, I didn't really know what to expect. We had a site reserved at an RV park in Wall, so we definitely planned to make a stop at the store. But, I have to admit, if we hadn't planned on stopping, I'm quite sure that we would have!
What roadside advertisements have made you make an unplanned stop?
