Jordan | Amman | Jebel Al Qala'a | Amman Citadel | UNESCO World Heritage Site | Jordan Pass | History | Archaeology | Architecture | Temple of Hercules | Umayyad Palace
A guided tour of Amman will often include a stop at the Amman Citadel located atop the Jebel (hill) Al Qala'a hill. Those planning to explore on their own can hike uphill to the Citadel (or take a taxi or Uber). In addition to great views overlooking the city of Amman, visitors also get a taste of the city's history and archaeology. Don't miss sites in the Citadel include the Byzantine Church, a Roman Temple and an Umayyad palace.

We cheated by taking an Uber up to the entrance of the Amman Citadel, but still had no trouble hitting 10k steps for the day! (Loved being able to get free entrance with our Jordan Pass.)
