Alaska | Denali | Denali National Park | Mount McKinley | Transit Bus | East Fork | Wildlife | Grizzly Bear | Arctic Ground Squirrel | Dall Sheep | Raven | Willow Ptarmigan | Moose
Unless you win the Denali Park Road Lottery, exploring beyond Mile Marker 15 is limited to tour busses and hikers. Visitors have a choice of tour buses or transit buses. Tour buses are narrated and operate with a scheduled start and end time. Transit buses (aka non-narrated buses) are more like hop-on, hop-off buses. Other than restroom and wildlife-viewing stops, transit buses limit their stops to places where passengers want to get off to either explore further on foot or switch to a different bus (based on seat availability).

Day 36 was our one full day to spend in Denali National Park, our 8th park of our trip. Our hopes were to see both Mount McKinley (aka Denali) and lots of wildlife. As we've learned is fairly common, parts of the mountain were in hiding through the entire day, so we never had a great view. We did have some wildlife sightings, just not as many as we had hoped!
