We've been planning this trip since 2019, and after three cancellations, we finally got to Tanzania!
We wrapped up our only day in Arusha National Park with an afternoon game drive. The road was anything but smooth (a "free massage road" as our guide, Baraka, called it), but we sure didn't care. His trusty Toyota Landcruiser was perfect for getting us around the park and letting us get good views of giraffes, bushbucks, zebras and warthogs. Next up was a drive around Momella Lakes to see both greater and lesser flamingos and a couple of gray crowned cranes. Before heading back to our lodge for dinner and a good night's rest, we spotted some common water bucks, a sacred ibis, some helmeted guinea fowl, a black & white colobus monkey hiding in a tree and lots of baboons. Needless to say, our first day on safari exceeded our expectations!
