BC Place Stadium opened in downtown Vancouver in 1983 and was the venue chosen for the Expo 86 opening ceremony as well as both the opening and closing ceremonies for the 2010 Winter Olympics. A new retractable roof (the largest steel retractable roof in the world) has since replaced the original roof. Each and every night, the stadium is lit up in colorful LED lights.
